What are the five best performances of the movie? In my opinion:

1. VANESSA REDGRAVE as Agatha
2. JOHNATHON SCHAECH as Nino
3. ANGELA BETTIS as Maria
4. VALENTINA CORTESE as Mother Superior
5. JOHN CASTLE as Giuseppe

Charming movie, great locations, captivating story but foremost best performances.

It was, by the way, the fourth film of Franco Zeffirelli where he cast the great Italian actress Valentina Cortese who played in movies by masters like Fellini, Antonioni, Truffaut and others.
