Real CcilWar Sommersby?

About 15 years ago, we stayed at a B7B in Georgia called Inn Scarlet's Footsteps. Gone with the Wind theme. In our room there was a bunch of magazines about the Civil War. One had a story about a "real" Sommersby story that took place during the Civil War. I have forgotten the details. Has anyone ever heard about this?
