Is Berengers finger cut of during the torture scene? I always wondered if it was a bad special effect that made it almost visible that it didn´t come of, or if it nenver was the meaning and the finger only was badly wounded?

they didnt cut it off they just put string around it and twisted, cutting off circulation and giving tom berenger some pain. If you see sniper 2, he has a prostetic finger.
shareThe torturer did cut off his finger. He tightened wire around it until the finger came off (you dont see it come though). At the end when Tom B fires his gun you can see a bloody stump at the knuckle where his index finger was and he fires the gun with his middle finger. The torturer wanted to end Tom's career as a sniper.
The fact that he has a prosthetic finger in the next movie says he lost his finger.

the finger is cut off completely. in sniper 3 the female doctor describes a tendon in his hand and how it was affected when he lost the finger. the finger was cut by either a piano wire or small chicken wire. if it was just to cut off circulation you would only have to turn it once. if it is turned multiple times the wire will slice through the skin and bone, either leaving a useless finger or otherwise just completely severing it off.

And that's what happens, only who didn't like him better than that idiot Miller? Rewritten/reshot, and pretty good ('cause we want Berenger to live), only problem is, the director only did one take of the torture/1shot2kills scene...

pretty bad job making those scenes flow together
i haven't seen the sequels yet, but from the sound of it a prosthetic finger for a sniper sounds like a stretch
