Just watched it on AMC - so bad. The acting was horrible, so bad. Story line was crazy, just made no sense to me. Seems like they were trying too hard to capitalize on Berenger's role in Platoon, as the "hardened. cigar chewing, do it my way" marine. So phony and over the top. I thought it was a waste of a movie.

shareOh Please! You do not know what a psychological thriller is! This is a great movie and I can watch it again and again. The direction is great, the acting is good, the differences between Beckett and Miller's lifestyle was well said, and overall the thrilling of kill-or-get-killed in the jungle was just awesome.

If you are such an expert on makes a good movie, then where's your film? Where's your screenplay? Why don't you march on down to Hollywood with your resume and see what they say. I think it'll be more laughter than words but that's just my guess.

I really liked it, though i can see why others didn't. its got to be fairly slow going to start with as its about snipers. not the gungho, guns blazing, kill a second, free for all that most action flicks are. Its all about the "one shot, one kill"
i thought the acting was okay, but, i'm a Berenger fan. I think he's underated. & Platoon was probably his finest hour.
All in all, I thought Sniper was a decent movie. I just wish there were no sequels.

it's not the best movie out there for sure but i think it was a solid 'simple' film and at the end of the day it's entertaining in my book.
i give it a 7/10. it's better than it's current average rating claims it is which is currently "5.7/10 5,853 votes"... i think it should be at least low 6's.

I thought it was a pretty damn good movie. There was a lot of psychological stuff going on, which is very rare for an action movie -- especially one from the early '90s. The characters were cool, the shots (not gunshots) were awesome, the plot was interesting enough, and the setting was nice. Character development was decent. I'd definitely call it underrated. So very underrated. I was expecting it to have a 7/10 here. One of the best action movies I've seen (and I have seen quite a few).
