that Annie peels her apple in one long piece. After Jonah's nighmare Sam comforts him and tells him his mom could peel an apple in one long piece too. Thought that was sweet.

I've watched this movie many, many times, and one reason I still love the movie so much is that it continually ties Annie's conversations with her friends and family with the conversations and relationships within Sam's family and friends, such as the comment about peeling the apple in one long curly piece, their respective arguments over the statistics over a single woman over 30 finding a man, and how "Kerr" is pronounced. It just gives us a glimpse into how well Annie will ultimately fit in perfectly with Sam and his circle of family/friends, and how his sister will ultimately get along great with both Annie and her friend Becky (Rosie O'Donnell's character). At one point Annie even comments to Becky how the curly haired woman she saw (his sister) embracing him during her visit to Seattle looked like "the sort of woman we would be friends with". And when they touched hands on top of the Empire State Building you could see both of them thinking "Magic". Little parallels and tie-in's between Sam's and Annie's storylines throughout the movie really make it one of the best written and directed movies I've ever seen.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the film. I especially love that it's done in one long take (about two and a half minutes). Great acting from Meg Ryan as she cries on command while peeling the apple in a long strip.

Thanks for pointing that out! I never realized it either till now.

Yeah, I noticed. It was meant to convey the sense that Sam and Annie were just meant for each other.

There was the scene in the car when she was listening to the radio. She would say something and then Sam would say the same exact words to the radio host. Again, the details meant to convey their compatibility.
