Blu-Ray fight sound effects

Just watched the blu ray of Iron Monkey and I was disappointed that the fight sound effects seem to have been replaced with really weak and boring modern Hollywood style ones that sound like a slap on the wrist.

For fights as frantic and well staged as the ones in Iron Monkey you really need some OTT sound effects to feel the impact of the hits but it just isn't there at all and really spoils the film.

I have Iron Monkey on VHS and the sound effects in that are powerful and meaty so why they changed it is beyond me because it really takes away from the action and sometimes it feels like the hits don't make contact because the sound effects are so poor.
