Thoughts and opinions about the film..

Lots of different thoughts and feelings throughout this movie. However, one important thing was never touched on. How they got HIV. Even if they don't know exactly, I'm sure they have an idea. It might be beneficial to some viewers to know and not follow the same path. The documentary leads us to believe that they were like a married couple (zooming in on the Not Married, segment of the death certificate) and telling us how they lived together for 22 years. However, if they were in a committed relationship they would not have picked up HIV from somewhere unless somebody was cheating; or they had orgies with others; or a drug problem. I feel this was avoided because the filmakers wanted to make the characters seem flawless and avoid reality. I can understand not wanting to tarnish your main characters, but when it is something that gave them the disease that is the basis of the film, it would only be fair. Watching somebody live and then die is incredibly powerful and this film has helped me witness what it is like for somebody with AIDS to die, and it isn't pretty.

It doesn't matter HOW they contracted it.How is that important? You are missing the point.
Who are you to sit in judgement anyway? How do you know they both weren't hemophiliacs? It's really none of your business...

It's none of my business? Well apparently they wanted a good portion of their life and their entire death to my business. I think it's stupid to avoid a subject that is the root cause of WHY they are making this movie. I think it's partially selfish and a little unfair to only put themselves under a light that avoids any darkness, just to up the sympathy and/or put them under only a 100 percent positive light. They make it obvious that dying with AIDS is horrible and showing every detail, but NOT just mentioning for a second on how they think they got it, is just ridiculous and selfish.

Something tells me if they got it via a blood transfusion they would have mentioned it.

You just don't get it. How is wanting to know how they got it prejudice? Maybe it was a blood transfusion, but something tells me if it was, they would have mentiond it. If you know how extraordinarily committed they were to each other, then you MUST surely know them (which you probably don't) but how did they get it then genius? You can build AIDS awareness and help people know what they can avoid doing to catch it OR you can just ignore that and not give a *beep* about other people and just take their money for this film.

I still dont' see how you think it's not relevant on HOW THEY GOT AIDS. You want a documentaries that leave out information? I don't.

If someone is dying of cancer, liver disease, lupus,or even untreated syphillis you don't need to know how they got it to do anything. The info about the prevention of AIDS is quite clear. If anything has changed you can contact the CDC. How does it affect you to know how they got it? Maybe they don't know. Many AIDS sufferers did not want to know their status and that's still happening with many people. As for getting it the info- it has been out there since the early 80's and people are still taking a risk getting infected by having unprotected sex. Gay,straight man, woman, teenager or senior citizen. All the numbers are still going up long after Tom & Mark died. So you comment is nothing but bulllsh!t
