a bit dissappointed..

being a great fan of of Altman's (rip) i was naturally with high expectations befre watching Shortcuts but for some reason i couldnt find much depth in it as in Gosford Park or even in the last movie Mr. Altman has given us.
i would highly appreciate it if someone could point out the main things that make this movie spectacular for him/her.

thanks ahead!

this is not only my favorite altman movie, but my favorite movie of all time. i agree that this film has less depth as some of altmans other works, but for me, i think thats why i like it. i feel that as a viewer, i am simply watching or sort of spying on these characters in their everyday lives, so i dont necessarily know much about the characters, but what i am watching them do is interesting enough to make me not care that i dont know who they are as people. i also love movies with tons of characters, multiple plotlines, an the way the characters are all intertwined makes it even better. i also like the majority of the actors in this film and i think it is one of the greatest ensemble casts there has ever been. there are numerous great performances in this movie as well. overall, i think the individual stories and chracters are very interesting and original, and the ways they are all conected is extremely clever. i think if you were expecting something along the lines of gosford park and enjoyed that film, then you probably wont be thrilled with this one, because they are not very similar. gosford park and atlmans other movies may have hd better stories, but for me its more interesting to just watch these ridiculous characters and the films study of human behavior. its not for everyone though, surely.
