Rented on Netflix
Okay I am American so I have not seen this before, but I like Sean Bean and put it in my netflix queue. Is it worth seeing? Help me out my anglo-saxon friends.

shareI have to admit that the first film maybe isn't the best of the Sharpe series, but it's a good introduction to the character. You will not be sorry for having watched it or the other films.

I'm not anglo-saxon, but a pict. And I say YES too. As mentioned above, they are not always of the same quality in terms of the plot, and sometimes they look like they ran out of money for the battle scenes (battle of Talavera looked liked it was fought by 3 men and a dog) - but throughout the characterisations and relationships between the men are great. And Sean just IS Sharpe - he lives the part.
