Majot Lennox at Assaye?

Just finished Sharpe's Triumph set at the battle of Assaye and there is no mention of Major Lennox. I would have thought that it could have been mentioned. There was mention of the leadership of Captain Swinton of the 74th but no Lennox of the 78th. Yet to read Sharpe's Eagle. Is this the same person and changed the name for the TV?

reply

No, it's because the first Sharpe book was actually Sharpe's Eagle, and Triumph was a later book. This sort of thing often leads to continuity errors, which Bernard Cornwell has acknowledged.

Bear in mind each regiment had 10 companies and so 10 captains. That he wasn;t mentioned in Triumph doesn;t mean he wasn't there; also in the film more is made of the role of Lennox at Assaye than in the book where he remembers him as making a name for himself; many did in that battle because it was an impressive victory.
