WTF Sundance?

I would have posted this last night but I had to get to bed. I don't know how many of you have the Sundance Channel but this movie was on there last night. I don't watch it a lot but they do show some pretty good movies and some TV shows. Anyway, I am watching this movie last night (I've seen it multiple times already but I enjoy it so I figured I'd watch it again) and they didn't show the ending. It went up to Josh walking up to face Jonathan Poe in the final match. It then went to commercial and at 10 PM they started showing Misery, which was scheduled for that time.

As I said, I don't watch Sundance a whole lot but when I have watched movies on there, there is usually one commercial break, about halfway through the movie, and that is usually it. First, last nights broadcast had multiple commercial breaks, which I did think was odd. Secondly, I don't even understand why they even take commercial breaks during movies anyway because all they show is promos for their own shows or they show a quick profile on an independent film or filmmaker.

Very disappointed obviously.

I also was so irritated! I saw this movie once years ago. I know he wins, but I do not remember the end at all. Since it was their movie of the week, they really screwed up.

Yup, someone screwed up big time. For someone watching the movie for the first time, they've gotta be wondering why it had such a lame ending. Of course, those of us who've seen it before know how the match ended.

@conway3000, the premature ending omitted Josh offering Poe a draw. Josh knew he had it. Poe insisted they continue, and he lost. There was also some good background stuff with Kingsley's and Fishburne's characters muttering conflicting kibitzes from another room.

One added note on the scene. What happens is that Poe makes a mistake and the board is now setup exactly like it was earlier in the movie when Kingsley's character knocks all the pieces off. As you said, Josh knows that he made a mistake and offers him a draw. Poe refuses and then they end up going into speed chess mode until the end of the match.

my mom and i were so confused. i even hit rewind to see if i had nodded off or something. glad i wasn't going crazy. get it together sundance.
