Ben Kingsley's accent

Whilst watching I was very confused as to what accent he was actually trying to do. To me, it sounded more Irish than anything, but that doesn't make much sense as Kingsley himself is English, and the real Pandolfini is American. If anyone knows what one he was trying to do it, I would appreciate some help

That's always bugged me, too!

Bruce Pandolfini isn't Irish, doesn't have much of an accent (you can see a movie where he speaks here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqCdviTh5XM), and yet Ben Kingsley played him with what sounded like an Irish accent. It was fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

It's possible that Kingsley was unable to do an American accent at that time and his pitiful attempt just sounded Irish lol

Kingsley did a decent American accent in Sneakers. This was just an odd choice.

Pandolfini is in this movie too. When Kingsley goes out to the park to watch Josh play for the first time, he's the one who says "A young Bobby Fischer." The real Pandolfini talking to the fake one.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Ben Kingsley can do no wrong...he's a genius! (Just kidding). I saw this before I knew what Pandolfini really sounded like so it didn't bother me much.

If you're not taking any steps forward, you're not moving at all.

Who cares! I liked his "acting"
