Ralph Fiennes as Amon Goeth is the performance of a lifetime- some of the best acting I've ever seen in a movie. I know you're supposed to hate the guy, but I can't help but love this character- he's one of my favorite villains ever. So scary yet charismatic at the same time. Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, and Embeth Davidtz all gave amazing performances, but Fiennes stole every single scene he was in.

I agree his porformance is incredible. The scene with the foreman of construction is just chilling and then two minutes later he gently tells Helen he doesn't want to give her his cold. IMDb is often full of 'who would you have picked instead of...?' threads but Spielberg really couldn't have picked three better actors for the principle roles! Or indeed for the support roles.

Spielberg intended SL to have an almost documentary-like feel through its realism & handheld camera-work, but you seem to see it as just another violent blockbuster with cartoon villains. I understand that Amon Goeth was a despicable person, but his CHARACTER in the movie SCHINDLER'S LIST is a favorite of mine. And Schindler's List is a great movie, one of my favorites. One of the only few movies that made me cry- regardless of my hate for Jews, the Holocaust was one of the darkest periods in our history. But that doesn't change the fact that I love the way his character was portrayed, even though he did all these terrible things. That's what makes him such a great character- he's complex and multi-dimensional. Who said I'm cheering when Goeth is killing Jews? You just assumed that because you're extremely close-minded. I think it's ridiculous that you're saying I shouldn't like him just because he was based on a real mass murderer. But there's the way you think, and the way I think. We're different. Nothing I can do about it.
