Sankofa or Roots
I think both are excellent, but Sankofa gets you more connected with the spiritual side of being an African. It's sad that not many people have seen this wonderful movie.

Agreed I showed the movie to my girlfriends while we all were attending Radford University a predominantly white collge and the can't thank me enough till this day. While we all loved roots Sankofa didn't sugarcoat a thing and it opened our eyes to the horror of slavery. anypne who hasn't seen this movie if you get an oppurtunity to please do so you won't regret it.
