I finally have a decent copy of this on DVD!
After years of waiting for a premium cable channel to show this so that I could get a decent recording on DVD and Encore finally showed it yesterday! I did a search and it was the one and only showing for it also.
Granted that it isn't in it's OAR of 1.85:1 but it is uncut and a much better recording than the VHS I bought from ebay.
I adjusted the black level input on my DVD recorder for deeper blacks and boosted colors and also upped the audio a bit. The result is a great recording with a very good sounding Dolby Digital 2.0 track.
I even used my laptop's label-making software and made a DVD case, disc face artwork and insert complete with chapter stops for it.
This will do just fine until SOMEONE someday releases it on either DVD or Blu-ray if ever. It drives me insane with shame and confusion that Warner has all but buried this inspired and important film in their catalog and intend to apparently leave it there for good.
If you expect the unexpected doesn't the unexpected then become the expected?
