Snubbed By Oscars?

Not a best picture by far and there wasn't any real standout actors. Well there is Sean Astin, but he just naturally fits the role and was fun to watch. But how in the hell did Jerry Goldsmith not even get a nomination for best original score? That score is still used in many occasions for all kinds of ceremonial events. It obviously has now become timeless. I guess it takes time for something to be appreciated as a classic, which is something the Academy blows at recognizing.

Bump that is right how in the hell did he not even get nominated for this?

Maybe his parentage (John Astin, adoptive dad; Patty Duke, mom) and his relative inexperience as an actor, at the time, precluded his being considered for a nomination by TPTB who might have viewed those factors about Sean as not being in his favor.

In any case, Astin would have had some pretty stiff competition in beating out those who WERE nominated: Liam Neeson ("Shindler's List"); Laurence Fishburn ("What's Love Got to Do With it?"); Daniel Day Lewis ("In the Name of the Father"); Anthony Hopkins ("The Remains of the Day"); and Tom Hanks (winner of "Best Actor" in "Philadelphia")--seasoned and accomplished actors, all.

Well, the only thing about this movie that was really outstanding and was just begging Oscar was the score. It was fabulous! It should have at least been nominated.

I agree, this is one of the best music scores in film history.

It really is a fantastic score. What a pity the Oscars are so biased and political. It is rare for them to choose the best of the year correctly.

Oscars? Brainless dribble, you must be joking.

I liked "Rudy" a lot. But with all due respect, it probably was not worthy of an Oscar. I don't care much for award shows and that includes the Oscars. The people who vote for the Oscars love movies that took place over a hundred years ago with lots of wigs, period costumes and foreign accents. They also like to give awards to actors who portray people with handicaps. I guess Rudy's dyslexia was not visible enough for an Oscar nomination.

..the Oscars are always biased, Speilberg's Schindler's List got all the nods and attention of 1993 movies.

- Rudy is my all time favorite football movie, and it's more than just a sports movie. It's for anyone who has a passionate dream and never gives up.

...the music score is timeless in Rudy. This movie never gets old.

It deserved a nomination but not a win. Schindler's List is one of the best dramatic film scores ever written and is hands-down the best score of the 90's. Don't get me wrong, I love Rudy's soundtrack but it doesn't even come close to Schindler's List.
