How did this movie not get at least an Oscar nomination for best score?

The soundtrack is absolutely beautiful, inspiring, and powerful. I put it on my top 5 soundtracks of all the movies I've seen, and that's a lot!

It didn't get an Oscar nomination because it was maudlin hogwash. It's contrivance in trying to ignore the corruption of college football and be "inspiring" made me laugh. I think I lost brain cells watching it. The corny musical cues fitted right in with this cheesy film. "Rocky" this is not (a much more intelligent film as it knowingly mocks the fairytale ridiculous this movie tries to take seriously).

Well you must have lost some brain cells, as you say, because your grammar is hurting my eyeballs. "Fitted" right in? "the fairytale ridiculous this movie tries to take seriously?" "It's contrivance"?

It didn't ignore the corruption of college football. That just wasn't the point of the movie. The point of the movie is that if you never give up, sometimes dreams do come true. This is a fact. I've seen lovely success stories happen within my own family. Regardless, I think the score is beautiful and most people will agree from what I've seen, even if they haven't seen the film.

Exactly. It also didn't cover the incident where a student with a bad case of constipation totally plugged the toilet in the student's union after a home game. Just can't get everything about college life and football in one two hour film I guess...

It is bad to drink Jobus rum. Very bad.

A lot of great scores were ignored by the academy back in the day.
