this movie, you may like Cross Creek, with the equally wonderful Mary Steenburgen.

Wow, it's been ages since I saw Cross Creek. Haven't thought about it in years. I agree with you. Thank you for bringing back a pleasant memory of a lost good movie.

Actually, I don't see the comparison between the two movies. However, I'm fond enough of both of them to have them in my collection. They're two films that I have no trouble revisiting from time to time and they still hold up very well for me. I really would love to see R.I.P. released on region 1 dvd. Two other real gems that you might try to get hold of are ' Thousand Pieces of Gold ' ( '91 ) and ' King of the Hill ' ( '93 ). King of the Hill is in my top top ten of the 90s decade. If you ever see either of them, get back to me with your opinion.

P.S. Just thought of another one...' Gas Food Lodging ', from 1992.

We do think alike.

King of the Hill, although I'm not found of Soderbergh works is a small masterpiece and true discovery. But you have to listen to KotH score as well, beacuse it gave very special note to story. Great score.

Gas, Food Lodging (1992) is again, a very special (mood) movie.

I guess, what some perceive as mood/atmosphere to some is simply a feel good movie, although sometimes, the main theme or the motive is not that uplifting at all, but, it can trigger the right feeling to some people. Specially if you would base your findings while reading description, or if you simply lack sensibility for these types of finer strings of life, that are reflected in great dialogues and special stories. So I could easily go to many genres that would easily cover this type quality.

I would have look in my mood list, but something that comes to me right now :

1) Passion Fish (1992)
2) The Accidental Tourist (1988)
2) Out of Rosenheim (1987)
4) When Night Is Falling (1995)

Again, not very found of Goldblum's affective type acting, but this is a very special mood movie, and probably very hard to find. Don't be fooled by poster or description - very benign motive : Fathers & Sons (1992)

Regarding Soderbergh's other work, I feel that ' The Limey ' and ' Out of Sight ' are two very well crafted films. They hold up very well for me. I can even revisit ' Sex, Lies and Videotape ' occasionally. The rest of his stuff, you can keep. ' Passion Fish ' is another very special piece of work. I've been in love with Alfre Woodard and Mary McDonnell for decades ( I just love hearing them speak ). There's not much of Jon Sayles' work that I don't have in my collection. I also have ' The Accidental Tourist ' in my collection. Geena Davis was well deserving of the Oscar she received. I'm not familiar with the other three you mentioned, but I'll do some research and keep an eye out for them. If you haven't seen them, give ' Miss Firecracker ' and ' Cross Creek ' a try. Although, my guess is that you have seen them.

@Srklondie,

You are quite right, I suppose I’ve slightly overgeneralized his work in one flying comment, forgetting Sex Lies and videotapes, whose soaking dialogs and story I always liked. Comfortably dissonant type of mood, if you allow me to say so. The Limely, more to the credit of lead actors then so much for realization. Out of sight, turned me down, because it was slightly pretentious for what was really delivered.

Not so old, and I'm sure you will also like this one :

A similar movie might be The Spitfire Grill (1996).
