Mona's left hand. Fingers missing..?

What's the thing with her ring finger and middle finger on the left hand?
They look shorter, like having been cut off or something.
Like early in the film, when Jack gives her a cigarette in the hotel room. He seems to look at that hand, and she says "It's not polite to stare"
Or is Lena Olins left hand like that? I could not find out.
