Great Amiga game, not so great film but not the worst I've ever seen.

It's really hard to defend this film. Everything about it screams low budget cash in and it's accurate. It feels like a TV movie, no in fact it feels like a TV EPISODE and it's just what you would expect with a TV episode including terrible acting and a really cheap look overall.

I think the main problem is that now when we are three films in, why is it that Murphy has still not gained some sort of recognition for his humanity? He's still driven by the same old prime directive and he's still got directive 4 too.

I would have though that after all he did that the media at least would have launched a severe human rights attack on OCP and they would have granted Murphy his identity back but it's the same old *beep* again.

The first film wrapped it up nicely so in an alternative sequel he may very well have become RoboMurphy but they just seem to keep fixing him up and expecting him to be the same old product as when Bob Morton first debuted him. It's really the same old guff that they did in the second film.

I think it does have some plus points though. It's fun spotting future TV cast members and the film has SUCH a 90s feel it's hard for people like me who were teenagers at that point to not get nostalgic. The film is also responsible for one of the best computer games of it's era. Robocop 3 on the Commodore Amiga was out about a year before the film and was a great atmospheric 3D shooter which was WAY ahead of it's time.

I think this film is watchable under the momentum of a binge and if you watch the first two and then go straight to this then it's ok as a time waster if you are in the mood but I don't think it'd ever be a first choice selection on it's own.

Still, it's not the worst film I've ever seen nor is it the worst sequel but it's a really obvious and cheap cash in on a successful name and I doubt Peter Weller would have save it though it would have been nice to have some more solid continuity in the cast.

The thing is that these films are actually quite good in a way as they give a lot of up and coming stars screen and set experience as well as a pay-cheque becasue contrary to belief most actors are not rich and it's not a matter of pride when they take these roles, it's a job.
