A joke I just recently caught

I've seen this movie so many times over the years but it wasn't until I watch it last night that I caught a certain joke.

Rabbi Tuckman was talking about Maid Marian's parents, Lord and Lady Bagelle. He commented that Robin and Marian are perfect for each other, LOXley and BAGELle.

I love discovering new things from old favorites!

LOL. Wow great catch. I have seen this movie so many times and I never caught it either. It makes sense when you write it out but goes right over your head when it is spoken outloud.

End of line

I never got that part. What is Loxbagel?
I had always thought it was meant to be like "Fred & Ginger" or something to that effect.

reply

Bagels are eaten with Lox. They go together.

reply

Ah, this may be an American thing because we don't really have bagels in Australia and I have no idea what Lox is. Thanks for the reply though.

reply

Lox is brined salmon.

reply

Smoked salmon.

reply

I guarantee you, if Australia has any jews living there, you definitely have lox & bagels!

reply

It is a pretty obvious joke, not sure how you missed it.

reply

It's a very obvious joke (Mel Brooks isn't really one for subtlety), but only if you know what Lox is. I didn't for a long time, so I didn't really get the joke. Pretty funny in that Mel Brooks way. I love MIT. Seen it many many times and it always makes me laugh.

If you're jewish you got it right away.

reply

I literally got this joke when I was 7.

"I only buy things with even-numbered price tags. I'm an economist."

I would agree. The first time I saw this I totally got that. With mel being jewish it was a no brainer.

reply

Duh, I caught this joke years ago.
