EXTREMELY UNDERRATED

I just now finished watching the film for the first time, and i must say i cant see why anyone can criticize this and say its bad. the story was great, the acting was great, and the love element while tragic was well done. I love when I see a movie and it doesnt have a happy ending. It left me feeling sad and i could honestly sympathize for the main characters. even though it may sound wierd, I would recomend this as a good date type movie. anyone else have anything to add, feel free.

i agree, i liked this movie. sure, it wasn't very frightening but it was pretty entertaining.. i liked the whole Romeo + Juliet type tragedy at the end as well, added that kind of bittersweet element to it.

I completely agree with all three posts. It's beyound me when other posters have hated it. I think it works pretty well. Well I guess it's like anything in life, it's just a matter of opinion.

But personally , I love it!

I really didn`t like this movie...it was just awful .

ITS A CLASSIC!

one of the great direct to video gems of the mid 90s!!!

reply

Actually it wasn’t straight to video. It got a small theatrical release. Trimark put it in 10 theaters I think.

Funny how people either love or hate this film. Most seem to like it but the few who dont...hate it. I belive the people that hate it are just too attached to the first two films and the gore / comedy format with the cheesy acting.

Yuzna turned everything upside down and did his own serious take on the ROTLD series with good actors and some people just cant accept that change of perspective.

For the genre this is one of the best IMHO. The film makers took a risk and hit paydirt as far as I'm concerned. Yuzna best movie by far & one of the true horror / gore classics that endure the test of time.

This movie have an actual storyline, character developpment, really good gore scenes and is really entertaining compared to part IV and V, i like it a lot also!!

She didn't hurt herself to stop the pain (that makes no sense!) she did it to stop the hunger.

I really liked this movie. The uncut version is a LOT better!

reply

okay, this is how i see this movie

it's a totally sweet movie, great atmosphere, and a good story. However, i think it kind of strayed away from the whole typical zombie movie. I don't always like it when zombies can talk, and do normal things, run etc... However, this movie rules, and in my opinion is the best sequal to return of the living dead

I really couldn't stand the movie. It was mostly because it had quite possibly the dumbest "hero" I've ever seen in a movie. He was directly responsible for at least a dozen deaths in this movie and he never seemed to learn from his mistakes or realize his girlfriend was a zombie who only wanted to feast on the living.

Well first off I must say that the whole feel of the movie was great, Melinda Clarke was incredibly sexy and the whole teenage romance theme was pulled off quite nicely. I especially enjoyed the acting job for the character Curt Reynolds being portrayed as a regular teenager with poor judgement due to his immaturity. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the cheesy score.

I've seen the first two films and what I think really gives this installment its kick is the intense gore(Unrated Version).

So yeah, they should come out with a box set of the first three films with tons of special features, a mini 245 trioxin drum and a limited edition booklet with instructions on how to make 245 trioxin. :-P

As the writer of the first two said, Romero rules the serious zombie film market. Hence the cheese fest that is the first two Return of the Living Dead movies.

Bender: I was God once.
God: Yes, I saw. You were doing well until everyone died.

I like this movie but it shouldn't have the ROTLD title it puts the other 2 to same. Good movie but not good enought for the title.

Movies are a work of art and your opinions dont mean Sh!t :)

reply

I'm sorry, but did you seriously just suggest that zombie movies are works of art?

Bender: I was God once.
God: Yes, I saw. You were doing well until everyone died.

I too heard a lot of bad things about it, I had only seen the first film. I saw 2 and 3 back to back and I must say I enjoyed 3 a lot more than 2 as ROTLD2 was trying too hard to be funny and became boring. Original plot and some crazy gore made ROTLD3 a fun film.

"Return of the Living Dead" 8/10
"Return of the Living Dead III" 7.5/10
"Return of the Living Dead II" 6.5/10

this movie was terrible

Damn I have not seen this in like a decade... of course I bought this cause of the hot chick on the cover or otherwise thought it was just more boring sequel movies after another... but hell i loved this movie i must of watched it hundreds of times before I somehow lost the video... but i was totally obsessed with her in the movie which was actually a great movie overall and somewhat thought it was better than the others as well.

I found it to be a huge surprise. Purchased it used about a year ago, and having seen the first two, was expecting some fun cheese. But I was shocked by how much depth it had. Granted, it's not the most mature or realistic movie, but it had a purpose and wasn't flat-out retarded like the second movie was.

Never saw any of the sequels after this one though...
