Who's the better Genie

Robin Williams or Dan "Homer Simpson" Castellaneta??

I of course pick Robin Williams.

reply

Hmmm...let's see...

The guy who absolutely made the character and did rapid-fire, brilliantly improvised impressions in the original blockbuster? Or the wannabe who replaced the genius in the cheesy direct-to-video version?

Give me Robin Williams' Genie anyday! Better impressions + better comic timing = awesome Genie!!

reply

Hey now, I agree that that was one of the dumbest questions ever, but don't go bashing Dan like that!

Dan is an amazing and talented voice over artist. He's no wannabe, he's a very renouned and successful man! He was doing Disney a favor by imitating Robin Williams as the Genie. And while it obviously wasn't exact, I'd say he does a pretty good job!

reply

I think that definitely Robin Williams was awesome.

But Dan, he did good too. He came in and tried to do his best. Robin Williams didn't do the voice because of a disagreement with Disney. It isn't like they wanted him over Williams. He did very well considering who he was trying to portray.

reply

No disrespect to Dan, but there's absolutely no comparison for me. Robin Williams was awesome.

Dan was an adquete replacement, but no way was he as good. But in all fairness, breaddog1225 is right, he had a tough act to follow. It would probably be the reverse situation if after fifteen years or so, Robin Williams took over for him as Homer Simpson.

One guy I spoke with when the Aladdin DVD first came out said there was no reason for them to do the sequel without Robin Williams and I really can't argue with that.

reply

Ok I say Dan tried harder and succeeded in being a good Genie.

But if any of the two were going to get famous out of this Robin would win.

I think that Robin Williams was the better one. No offense or anything but Dan did try to do his best but it wasn't as good. Who else aggres with me?

reply

Dan was good, but he does start to sound like Homer Simpson.

reply

He sounds like homer simpson because he does the voice for hommer simpson. Besides he doesnt really sound a lot like hommer simpson. He just sound a little bit like him (Mabey 10%)

Any way i like dan a little bit better (But i still like robin)

reply

I totally disagree, Dan Castellanta is without a doubt THE greatest voice actor of all time and he did a great job in this movie.

reply

Robin Williams hands down. He had so much more energy and so much more pizazz. What I love about Robin is that you could tell none of it was forced.

reply

Robin Williams

reply

yea, I didn't know that when I first discovered Return of Jafar- they sounded alike to me. Besides, after watching the series which went for 3 seasons you get used to his voice as the genie...

I honestly think people should keep quiet about this just no one's movie experience is ruined....

reply

Dan did a good job as a favor to Disney but it's really no contest Robin Wins!
