I am confused... Was this film pro or anti gun?

It just seemed the political message in the film was so intelligently and subtly layered no advanced reading in sign and syntax would be able to decipher its complicated political subtext hidden within the metaphoric and smoothly flowing mise-en-scece. Yahoo Serious is a modern day Terrence Malick.
