Is this the film where he has a bath in the show house,and someone keeps
nicking the turf off the bowling green

Right about the bowling green bit, him and Bruce Jone nick the turf but he has a bath in the showhouse in Riff Raff, also directed by Ken Loach 3 years earlier.

The show house gag is funnier as Loach was showing some nuns around the house - they weren't actresses. It was real not acted!
