David Warner

So, I'm sitting there laughing at the movie, thoroughly enjoying myself except for this nagging feeling that I've heard David Warner's voice somewhere before. Who the hell is this guy? Then it dawns on me: He plays the Cardassian who kidnaps Picard in the famous "There are four lights!" two-parter of ST:TNG. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if I didn't figure that out...

He's also Jon Irenicus from Baldur's Gate II. He's Jack the Ripper from Time after Time.

He's also known for a role in another B grade film: Star Trek V!

Almost.. he's actually the Klingon seeking conciliation with the Federation then murdered in ST-VI.

Warner has a pretty long and varied career. He's good at playing both the good and the bad guy in his films. Other than this turkey, I've liked him in every other role he's played.

He always follows the creek.

No Almost. He also plays "St. John Talbot," the Federation ambassador at Nimbus III in Star Trek V as well.

Don't forget, he was also Sark in TRON. And he played Captain Sawyer in one of the Horatio Hornblower episodes.

Surely you must have recognised him from Time Bandits?

"Benson, I'm going to have to turn you into a dog", "I mean, nipples for men?", etc.

Like a lot of British actors from the 1960s he started off doing credible roles in serious British films and then moved to Hollywood to play villains and supporting characters on television, because the money was much better. But unlike Oliver Reed, Richard Harris et al he wasn't a raging drunk, so he's still alive and working today.

I surmise he signed up for Quest of the Delta Knights because (a) it wasn't hard (b) the money was nice (c) he got to play a hero for once and (c) he go to work with Olivia Hussey. It's a pretty enviable life, being David Warner.
