this movie traumatized me.

Am i the only one who was mentally stabbed by this movie as a child? This was my sisters favorite movie and she always made me watch it with her.All those creepy creatures and goblins! I used to have nightmares about this movie all the time. I tried to watch this movie again but it still creeped me out.

reply

haha. it is kind of dark if you think about it. i blame this movie, along with The Last Unicorn, for warping my mind as a child and turning me into a twisted goon. I love it though.

God I know exactly what you mean, I remembered this movie from when I used to watch it at my Nanny's, and I decided to try and watch it again recently, and then all these traumatizing memories from the movie came back to me and I couldn't even get half way threw it.

Even the way it's animated it SO scary!

reply

OMG! I thought I was the only one!!!

Don't you LOVE old films like this, that you sort of forget for a while while you grow up, and then you remember bits and pieces of it and when you finally find it when you're older, all those same memories come flooding back?

When I was little, I LOVED horror movies, but my parents didn't like me watching them, so, this was as close to a horror film as I could get by with watching while they were around, LOL... but I admit it was a little dark and creepy for too young of kids to be watching it! I was around four or five when I first saw it and it creeped me out a bit. I remember we rented it when I was little, I think my older sister may have picked it out, but I ended up liking it more than her, haha... but man oh, man... this movie is great. Ahhh!

Because we screw boys like whores on tequila.

Not to mention the naked King in the scene you mentioned first in #3.

However, think about old fables. Grimm's. Bloody, dark, violent, harsh. This movie's a fairy tale, but it doesn't disguise itself.

Alcohol is in a lot of childrens' movies, particularly older ones.

I can't explain when Curdie goes into Irene's bedroom-- that went a bit too far. But mostly, this movie is just kooky and strange.

Cartoons are made by adults. Enough said.

I guess it could be construed as Froglip sexually assaulted her or something since the whole room and bed is torn apart. I don't think that's what happened. It's just my guess why people on this board thought it was disturbing.

reply

The bed scene was noticable, but the licking looty's boobs part was WAYYYYYYY noticable hahaha

reply

Only in the 90's could these be such a kick-ass children's movie!

Oh my gosh! this movie traumatized me too!

After I would watch it, I would run to my parents room and sleep with them at night. I kept thinking the goblins would come and take me. I honestly don't even think I can stand to watch it even now. I mean it scared me to death when I was a child that I couldn't do it.

reply

This was freaky as hell. I wouldn't watch it now, it would bring back too many bad memories.

if you wanna talk scary might i suggest little nemo? goblins and all that i can deal with. they were silly and a little gross. but the nightmare in little nemo scared me more. he was more menacing. but some of the things said in this topic are just silly. as one already mentioned, kids don't notice these things, unless the parents tell them.

reply

I was the same, only I forced those around me to watch it. I absolutely loved it, but it terrified me to the point of nightmares every night. I haven't seen it in years, I think I've got a video copy somewhere, I'm going to try and find it, in need of some nostalgia! I think it'll probably be quite laughable now (:

An idea is only relevant if it's being thought apon.

traumataizing? are you kidding me? man you people were soft as kids. even softer now if it still effects you.

this movie touches on NOTHING compared to real horror movies and its a kids movie for petes sake. i watched this movie hundreds of times as a child and was never scared of it or anything. i thought the movie was pretty funny.

as for the acohoal and such in it that another poster was complaing about you gotta look at how old this movie is. Back in the day people didnt shelter their kids as much and so such things were accepted in childrens movies.

now adays every kiddie movie is all rainbows and sunshine movies like this and the last unicorn and such need to start coming out again. their good movies and i would never stop my younger nieces and nephews from watching it if they wanted to.

people are to soft now adays. everyones turning into sissys and turning their kids right along with them.

reply

i cant *beep* believe why you are all complaining about this great movie so much. for crying out loud its a kids movie.
sure there is a bit nudity in it especially froglip lying against his mom on the throne you can see a big part of his butt there! not if i mind, hehe :P i'm in love with prince froglip anyways. :D
anyway i love this movie its my all time favorite kids and cartoon movie and you people shouldnt complain about it so much.
