Dermott Mulroney ruined this film

I think he has improved considerably as an actor, but he was so far below the level of Fonda and Byrne here, that any scene he was in comes off as uneven. It almost sounded like he had never read for the part before they shot. His reading alternated between uninvolved and insipid. This is a very interesting film, and one of Bridget Fonda's best roles. Byrne is spot on, and the supporting cast, Bancroft, Keitel, D'Abo, is sensational. Too bad.

Dermot is just playing a small part in this mvie and it wouldn't change the outcome. Don't play the blame game to a "small" character.

I am just a regular person but a Unique one, not a clone type person.

Agree OP. Very uneven. Hard to say what he should have done. Not up to this.

Lol you replied to your own post from four years ago. I agree tho. His acting was mehhhh. And unrealistic when Bridget came on with a beat up face. No boyfriend would ever respond in that manner.

yep, that was a bit weird

Guy was a total jerk

I didn't think he ruined it from his acting but he ruined it from how he played the character, really annoying and flippant, of course he was written that way but it sure would've made the movie better if he wasn't such a dick. He worried too much about not knowing enough about her and her past.
