I wonder why the director even bothered changing her name from Shalika to Iesha.

And remember when her boyfriend hit her and she said something in the lines of "When we get back imma get my boys "Monster and Dookie" to kick your ass!!". Monster and Dookie was Doughboy's homeboys in Boyz N The Hood.

If that had happened, it would have put too much of the focus on her (as a previously established character that movie goers knew) and distracted from the rest of the ensemble.
