I never even have heard of it... only way was that I was looking at the oscar winners, and I never have even heard of it, not even when the movie was new!!!!

It is a film one has to decide to hang with for a couple of hours. Long silent scenes, chock full of emotional depth, an understanding of lust, and just plain interest in the characters, til the end. Few can do that, it seems, these days. It was and is an excellent film. You will see, hopefully...
shareNo, there are many many films with fewer votes than that. Old films especially. Some of my favourites have votes only in the hundreds. A few only in double figures.

shareNo, there are lots with fewer votes than this one. For instance, if you look at films that have won Best Actress like this one did, Howards End only has about 21.000 votes, and Norma Rae only has about 7,000. Likewise there are films that have won Best Original screenplay with far fewer votes.
