Obama's America

Watching this movie in 2013 keeps reminding me of what will come to be if Obama's propaganda machine succeeds in brainwashing the populace and installing its Socialist / modern Liberal agenda. It was jarring to hear people speak English while Nazis were all around in the film. As bad as this movie is, its message is rather patriotic and Conservative. The rest of the free world should always remember as well that if it weren't for the US entering the war in 1941, they may all be speaking German today.

The film does have some good qualities. The sets were well made, the actors are convincing even while the script is laughable. The scenes between Benny and his dad were touching and realistic. This movie was made during a time when Americans were still proud of our country, where Patriotism was not something to be ashamed of and the concept of fighting for what is right was king.

Ehhh....I think it was more due to Russia getting involved and fighting Germany on the eastern front. Had it not of been for this, the european allies would of been up against the entire bulk of Germany's war machine.

The Russian made a Non Aggression treaty with Hitler and split Poland between themselves. They didnt do anyone any favors. If Hitler had started his operation Barbarossa near the end of Winter rather then when he did, he could have trounced Stalin and eliminated Russias abilities to fight any more wars. Then the Allies could have used the A-Bomb to compensate for the loss of Russian manpower.

'Social/modern Liberal' as opposed to the Capitalist system that dragged the rest of the world into a huge recession and has reduced the majority of Americans to poverty... whilst already keeping a large number of Americans trapped in poverty their entire lives?

*just saying*

reply

It's not the capitalist system at fault. It's cronyism and corporatism that have infected the body politic. As bad as it has become, wealth redistribution of the commie variety (by force) never works.

reply

Communism would keep EVERYBODY in poverty their entire lives.

Xfiler - I wonder just what IS right? The Republican fascist machine is doing a good job all by itself of brainwashing with it's own agenda to return the USA to the world of 1956 and strip away all of the "humane" progress in American politics which has transpired since then.

Live and Let Live, is the only right thing to do or believe in.

Enrique-8, it's obvious you've been brainwashed by the liberal left if you hold the silly view that Republicans want to return the world to the 1950s. You were probably also tricked into believing they have a war on women too.

reply

No, Gerard, I witness the selfishness of the average Republican first-hand every day, through my father (60 years of it), my employer (30 years) and the Drudge Report (15 years).

If you want to see brainwashing, first hand, just count the poor in the Deep South, who continue to support the Republican party that keeps them poorer than the majority. Those are what I call zombie drones.

Well put Enrique.
It blows my mind when the poorest people complain because the richest have to pay taxes. Corporate welfare for the top 1% dwarfs social welfare by about 3 fold. Yet, the puppets of the right (Limbaugh, etc.) complain about food stamps and medicaid. Also, I love how the Right loves to talk about the redistribution of wealth. The richest 1% own 50% of the wealth as opposed to 25% back in the 70's. The rich are getting richer almost exponentially, while the average worker is remaining stagnant or is falling behind. If that isn't redistribution of wealth, I don't know what is.

Since we're re-writing history, yeah, I remember when Obama signed the patriot act in 2002, and then the real id act in 2005 (remember the RFID scan before they got on the bus?). Limited government freedom lovers like GW Bush would never do anything like that.

Obama has of course failed to restore any of the freedom Bush destroyed and has in fact added to it with things such as NDAA.

Fun fact: The movie mentions a "New world order" several times in the "new" 1993. Guess who first mentioned that phrase several times when he was president?

Hint: It wasn't Obama.

In his speech, Toward a New World Order, delivered on September 11, 1990 during a joint session of the U.S. Congress, President George H. W. Bush described his objectives for post-Cold War global governance in cooperation with post-Soviet states.

Pull off the party blinders and think outside the D and R boxes.

And you gave her a land mine? Really?
Well, it seemed appropriate at the time.

'was jarring to hear people speak English while Nazis were all around in the film' Do you really think they would have been able to force everyone to speak German? As another poster mentioned which president signed in the powers to spy on people with no evidence,to allow them to see what books you had been reading at the library and to lock people away with no trial? The same type of things that happened in Nazi Germany.

reply

We'd be speaking Japanese, not German. Japan successfully attacked us. Germany tried a couple of times and failed.

And, I know you don't understand but while Communism is a type of Socialism it is not the encompassing factor of Socialism.

Also, when was the last time the United States has ever been in the Top 10 of best countries to live in -- ever? Oh, and using a Conservative list is biased and doesn't count. The only thing we make the top 10 in is Colleges (though I read all the time how Republicans want to get rid of the Department of Education -- if ever successful we won't be in that top 10 list) and we make top 10 lists on Celebrities, rich people, and music. But that's really what's important.

Except for our "freedoms" we're no better than many 2nd and 3rd world countries.

That's Obama's fault too, right?

Someone's brainwashing machine sure worked wonders on you.

Actually, Nazism has more in common with conservatives and Rethuglicans - oops, I mean Republicans - than it does with liberalism/socialism. But I suspect you're not much for actually studying history, are you?
