From The Untouchables to A perfect World : weight?

Hi Guys,

sometimes I wonder certain things and I just gotta try figure them out.

So I've seen this beautiful movie. Really a movie that surprised me. Touched me.

And one of the surprises was Kevin Costner's physical change. I was so surprised, especially since I'm currently making myself a Costner festival. Meaning I'm watching many Costner's movies.

So I recently saw the Untouchables, and I was like : wait a minute, the Untouchables was released in 1987 and this one in 1993. Movies can be shot way before they are released and some take more time than others but how many years really are before these 2 movies?

I was so surprised to see Kevin Costner with stomac and huge arms. But don't get me wrong : I loved him so much in this movie and I was so turned on by his sex scene : my God, this man has too high sexual vibes on screen!

And actually it was such a choc to see him like that and to see he was so at ease anyway that I must say I feel differently about my own stomac. I feel less ashamed.

I imagined someone like Kevin Costner especially that he was not so old in this movie and especially that he was known for being handsome would preciously take care of his weight.

I wonder : did he take weight for the role?

Also I notice women who are actresses remain thin even as they age. How do they do that? Do they keep on dieting forever?

I think that anyway they don't have much choice because I believe women are less accepted when they take weight as they grow old, than men. Men can still be big and central in a movie poster, but I don't see that happen with women.

So what do you think? Please help.
What happened to Kevin Costner's body between the Untouchables and A perfect World?
And why is it that this change happens usually to men in the movies and not women?
