The guy who protected darby Questions (Spoilers)

I didn't know who the hell killed the red cap assasin that was going to shoot Darby at the fair. At the end of the movie the FBI director said it was an independant contractor hired by Rupert CIA to protect Darby after the brief got out. Who the hell is Rupert? Wasn't the presidents CIA men after her the whole time? And where was the "protector" during the numerous attempts on her life by the midget agent guy before the assasin even tried to kill her? So may plot holes.

Rupert was the guy who said he was a cop after callahan's car blew up and took DArby to his car and told her to stay there...and the NOPD said there wasn't a cop named Rupert.
guess he was a good guy after all.

Dude, maybe you should watch it again, and pay close attention. He got capped in the back of the skull. They don't show it too explicitly, but it should be obvious.

Watch the whole film, looking for the Patrick Swayze lookalike. He meets her in the car and shadows her the whole time after that. She is never out of his sight. It's supposed to scare your pants off.

The man who called himelf Rupert - he pretends to be a NO Cop- shot the assign.

There is also a scene of a few CIA guys watching Darby when she's in a hotel. They are in one room she's watching tv in another. They say 'she's using credit cards -she'll be dead in 48 hours', and one of them says 'I'll give her 72'. They talk about how this proves her brief was right, and agree to meet the next day at 6am.
