i think it deserves a 9 or 10!!!

i dont know about anyone else but i have brothers and sisters so this movie really got me emotional with the whole hurting a sibeling plot. i think alot of movies dont have that sort of emotion to them and this was one of a kind.

i really enjoyed the acting, plot, EVERYTHING!!

I remember seeing this movie back in '95 and I was still in HS at the time, so I relate to a bit of it. The only things I compare with it to "The Karate Kid" are the the villainous instructor Gavin to Sensei John Kreese, Mako's character to Mr. Miyagi and the Scorpions to Cobra Kai. Other than that, I think this movie is in a league of its own due to the storyline and I believe it is underrated to this day. The main thing I would've changed was the R rating as I didn't think it was warranted. PG-13 would've sufficed, but I guess the producers wanted to make this movie seem more gritty and serious as opposed to the more upbeat action flick "Tiger Heart" also starring TJ Roberts. However, this was already accomplished.
