grief counseling

I don't remember very much about this movie. I think I only saw parts of it. I'm pretty sure I saw the end of it. My question is did the mother receive any counseling before she made up her mind to give her baby up for adoption. Sometimes people who have children who have serious disabilities go through a time of shock and grief. They might make a rash decision to give the baby up and then regret it terribly. I have never been in this position, but I do have a BS in Psychology. People have reactions of grief to many situations not just the death of a loved one.
