This line comes from the scene with Sam’s blind date. After she refuses to eat the veal dish Sam has prepared, he offers to fix her some eggs and she claims to be a lacto-ova vegetarian. I think she has her terms confused. Being a lacto-ova vegetarian; means that you DO NOT exclude eggs and milk from your diet. What this has to do with Chinese food, I’m not sure but I think it’s just a play on words.

It's nothing more than a play on words sarcasm resulting from Sam's frustration with his date. He prepared a terrific meal and all she can do is come up with excuses not to eat it. I thought it was a very funny line and got it immediately.

He's making a wry observation about his sister's mild hypocrisy. She claims to adhere to a strict, disciplined, and principled diet, but all bets are off where Chinese food is concerned.
