It just is. I base this on the amount of laughs I(and the people I've watched it with) get with each watch. It's fast paced and has a joke ever couple of seconds. I like physical humor and Samuel L Jackson is just on fire in this. He's hilarious. The panic attack when he has to shoot the bad guy, the face he makes to mimic the girl with the buck teeth, him walking into the yellow tape etc.

I'd say the modern-day parody films should take a lesson from Loaded Weapon 1. This is exactly how you're suppose to produce a genuine quality spoof.
Unfortunately, this movie was not well-received at the time. They only released it domestically and it made roughly $27 million on a $8.2 million budget. Plus, it has a 6.1 IMDb user rating and a 15% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
I suppose people don't know a good film if it hit them over the head.

shareGreat thoughts! Also, with the short running time, I wish they would have left in the deleted scenes since it would have given us even more laughs. There is a great post summarizing those scenes which aren't on the DVD.
So: a realistic, down to earth show..which is completely off the wall swarming with magic robots?!
