"Naked" is a great movie, with one of the best performances and some of the sharpest dialogue you'll ever find. It's gritty and often quite unpleasant, but it manages to achieve a level of verisimillitude that few films ever have. And some of Thewlis's dialogue, as well as some of the scenes, are hilarious. So the movie isn't entirely grim, though I think it's a pretty safe bet that just about all the characters will wind up living out their lives in a fairly miserable condition; I don't see how it could be otherwise given the dreary world views that imprison each of them.
