Did Johnny have SPOILER WARNING

Did he have AIDS? I missed the start and figured maybe i missed something. He didn't want to bone the woman in the window, and when the yuppie said something about giving whatshername AIDS, maybe it was the other way around. Plus he was coughing all the time. Plus he was saying about Hitler reading Nostradamus and causing a self fulfilling propecy. Maybe Johnny was bringing about the end of man by chatting up all the ladies.

I guess with so much talking in the movie, you can kind of make a case for anything, but it seems like him having the plague was kind of sort of strongly implied. I suppose he didn't seem like a super evil guy so maybe he wasn't conciously.

Anyway a good film. Made me think. Slightly depressing though.

I agree with meatbone on this one... if Johnny did have AIDS than that changes the whole character of the movie. He would go from being self-destructive and misogynistic to murderous and vengeful. AIDS is, after all, a communicable disease, and for Johnny to have intercourse with all the women he meets would make him a monster.

Very interesting theory indeed. As the other poster said, were he given AIDS to people he would be a monster. Hence why Jeremy/Sebastian was so odious, trying to frighten Sophie with the potential that she caught that terrible disease.

Johnny had acute neuralgia and systolic something or other. My brother suffers from neuralgia and let me tell you it is excruciatingly painful. A doctor described it as being ten times worse than a heart attack in terms of agony. It also is nicknamed "the suicide disease"- but that's usually in the case of people who get it very consistently. Thankfully my brother doesn't get it very often at all but twice he thought he was having a heart attack or stroke when it first occured.

Assuming Johnny got it frequently then you could probably see why he is in such a bast ard of a mood all the time.

Johnny could've easily been lying, of course. Never trust a man who thieves other people's books.
