1.The woman in the window has a map of Ireland in her house (although she says she never noticed it).
2.Brian's big dream is to buy a house in Ireland and live there.

I had the feeling it is not coincidence that Brian wants to go especially to Ireland. Did he see the map in the room of the woman, and is that why he wants to go to Ireland?

I thought it was supposed to suggest the two of them would be well suited if they'd actually met and would have a rapport, but cruel circumstance has meant they didn't meet and have both become lonely and hopeless. But nothing to do with him being able to see round a corner and across a fair distance to distinguish that map on the wall.
