Best sad movie i've ever seen.
Realistic, sad, funny, beautiful.
This movie has it all.
It's over my head how Michael Keaton didn't win an Oscar for this.
Recommend this movie to everyone just be warned of how sad it is.

I know!
Michael Keaton is simply a fantastic actor who is consistently underrated for his drama chops.
I made the mistake of watching this film the first time a few months after a close relative of mine died from cancer. Talk about emotional catharsis for me at the time.
I had to wait another few years to re-watch it, when I wouldn't be as close to the subject matter, as this movie absolutely nails fine points and minutia of going through an experience such as this and that can be devastating in their own right (but frequently are unrealistically ignored or underplayed in lesser made films about dying), in addition to the major traumas that accompany this disease and the dying process.
Also, the overlapping of one person gradually winking out while another person is just beginning the arc of life was incredibly stunning and superbly handled, IMHO.
Good movie, and very fine acting throughout...but, as you said, tis a sad one.

My favorite sad movie is still the original Brian's Song. But this was a good one too.
