Has not aged well AT ALL

Transrights means that movies like this, sadly, need a disclaimer.

Jokes like "I don't work with the boys because I used to be one" , followed by the phone being hung up are TRANSPHOBIC.

Then the scene where the boy freaks out because he sees Mrs. Doubtfire using the toilet standing up. Transwomen can use the bathroom anyway they want.

He should have simply been like 'oh, Mrs. Doubtfire has different plumming than I thought" and not given it a second thought. Instead he's seen as a pervert and threatened by the children.

I feel like this movie really hails from a different era and we are so much more enlightened now.

You can't tell because reality is often stranger than fiction.

Back in the old days, satire was obvious. Today, there's literally nothing, regardless of how idiotic, that some woke person won't say.

At my age, I *never* thought I'd live to see the day where a man can decide he's a woman and play women's sports AND all of this will be defended by people actually elected by the population.

Strange days.

AND all of this will be defended by people actually elected by the population.

I'd put an asterisk by that, which reads "put in place by the establishment" rather than "elected by the population".

As evident with the irrefutable proof that has surfaced, the people didn't elect these clown into office one iota.

You missed that Daniel is not really a transwoman in the first place?
It is either that or that you're trolling.

reply

No, but the reactions to transwomen or apparent transwomen is really unfortunate.

reply

ah another stupid topic.

Take that stupid WOKE bullshit on down the road! Don't like, don't watch!

reply

Now this, I like.

The themes of this movie have been known to offend "them" lately and give the sads. It's why I watch it at least once a week and make sure everyone on social media knows how much I enjoy the film.

reply

I dont care what day and age it is. Walking in on who you know as an elderly woman going pee standing up would be 100% weird.

Regardless, this whole thing of "not aging well" is idiotic in most cases. The movie doesn't encourage hate against trans people. It makes two jokes that yeah, I suppose are a little offensive today, but who cares? It came out in the 90's. If it was constant jokes about trans people, if they constantly mocked them, if they encouraged hate, then you'd have a point. But it doesn't. It makes two jokes. Who cares.

reply

It made out that trans women are perverts and a danger to children.

With one simple line? I think you're projecting your own views. You clearly seek out and want things to be transphobic.

Notice how you don't talk about the good messages it sends? Like divorce is a realistic thing that happens to tons of kids, and the parents often don't get back together. Or that its possible a woman can have a very good career and be a good and caring mom. Or that it shows how divorce can still lead to a happy family, and the parents can still work together for their kids. Or there's tons of different kinds of families, and a family doesn't have to have a mom, dad, and kid.

You focus only on the two brief moments in the movie. Again, you seek out things to complain about, and ignore the good things the movie does.

reply

Mrs. Doubtfire is not a trans woman, he is a man in disguise. Learn the fucking difference, Karen.

reply

Ignoring the fact that it wasn't disclosed to the parent.
