Non spicy jambalaya?

Stu was pretty dumb for ordering Jambalaya in the first place. Jambalaya is meant to be spicy. Why would he even order it if he's allergic to pepper? What's going to happen if the cook forgets to make it non spicy like how he requested?

That's like if I'm allergic to peanuts and I order a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

reply

Seriously! I was just saying this last night...

And to just say "not spicy I'm allergic to pepper" pepper doesn't even make it spicy it's everything else

reply

Not sure we didn't write the movie, so don't be blaming us but as you can see that restuarants are and should be happy to take such requests even if they are dumb. That is a question you have to take up with the writers, and I would have to think that the waiter right done the request. And I am sure the cook would have looked back at it and say wait a minute they wanted this non spicy. Either case I am sure he would have still had the same reaction. And that could be liking ordering pizza if you are allergic to cheese.

Kindly point out in my post where I blamed anyone here? I merely pointed out something stupid in the movie. I wasn't blaming anyone. You badly misread what I wrote buddy.

Really after a few months you choose to respond to me, but then again better late then never. You might not have wrote that you are blaming somebody, but that doesn't stop me from thinking about it or writing it.

reply

I have something called a life. I dont check on my previous postings often so too bad.

You must be a demented person if you somehow think what I wrote translates to blaming someone. I bet when someone says thank you. You would probably take it as an insult .

Whatever you sound like a troll. If you want to start an argument over nothing. I suggest you go to the My Little Phony boards and pick a fight with one of the people there. Im not gonna waste my time on trolls. See ya.

Exactly what I had said, but either case that is a good for an example, I have never heard of anybody special ordering a pizza without cheese, but I am sure it wouldn't be the same. Or even if somebody was allergic to dairy products, and think about it how do you get cheese you get it from milk. And cheese just doesn't come from the sky, plus you have to order it special like you had said, and you can't get a frozen pizza in less you going to pick off the cheese.

reply

I actually know someone who ordered pizza sans cheese, I can hardly believe it myself. 
The pizza came with chopped canned tomatoes, garlic, and basil on it!

Blech. That's not pizza to me, that's bruschetta. 

I agree 100% with this thread. Jambalaya IS a spicy dish! What the heck is it without the spices...blah!

And lastly, just what kind of jambalaya was that supposed to be?!
Jambalaya has rice, shrimp OR chicken, sliced sausage, diced veggies.
That looked like an hor'deurve plate!

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.

Penfold, shush.

And I can't either, and you can see I used ordering pizza without cheese for example, but am I the only one on this board that doesn't seem to be bothered with Stu ordering Jambalaya non spicy? The waiter as I can recall didn't seem to be bothered by it.

sans cheese? 

It was just an example that I used

reply

 agree, his order doesn't make sense.

Why am i the only one that is not bothered by this?

Plot-wise, it was to give him a reason to mention his allergy to pepper.

And really, it's not as unrealistic as you might think. Sure, it's typically a spicy dish (I wouldn't order it non spicy), but there are non spicy variations made, as some people like the dish, but don't need all the spices. A high class restaurant like that one would certainly not be adverse to taking certain orders.

reply

I guess even through the waiter had no problem with Stu ordering it non spicy, but what you can say is different strokes for different folks. And maybe there are people that don't like their food too spicy, maybe a little but a lot. But then again was it really the restaurant's business to know that he was allergic to Pepper?

reply

Nobody asked him, he volunteered the information on his own. If he had simply said he wanted it non-spicy, no one would have questioned it. Again, it was for the purpose of the plot.

reply

You are right he volunteered it all on his own and not even sure if the waiter would have even would have thought to ask why he wanted it non spicy.

reply

It wasn't the restaurant's business to know he was allergic to pepper. Him mentioning it was an exposition moment so that Daniel/Doubtfire would know(and, by proxy, the audience) and later could dump it on Stu's dish in a moment of (drunken) spite at the man who was wooing his kids and soon-to-be-ex wife(which is the lead-up to Daniel's exposure as Doubtfire to Miranda).

Otherwise, the whole situation would have seemed to come out of left field to the audience and someone would be on here instead asking things like, "Why did Daniel dump some kind of powdered spice all over that dish?" and/or "Why did Stu choke on said dish right after?".

BTW, wasn't it cayenne pepper not plain pepper that Daniel puts on the dish? I seem to recall the spice being reddish not black/brown. This would further explain why Stu specifically says he wants "non-spicy jambalaya".

It was something like that I haven't watched the movie in a long while but is the label on the bottle that he used is easy to read what kind of pepper it was.

reply

That jambalaya looked good lol. I know its supposed to be a scary scene, but looked tasty.

And then him choking on the jumbo shrimp made me laugh so freaking hard. Glad he didn't die.
