What did you think of Stu?

Was he a good guy?

reply

In the end I think he was. The movie was set to make you feel like Daniel deserved another shot, but the only thing I can see villainous in him is calling him a loser. But he was right at that point.

reply

Yes, he was. Daniel was jealous of him, but that was his issue, not Stu's. Even in the end, he had good cause to sue Daniel, since the trick with the pepper could have killed him, but apparently he didn't. That says a lot.

reply

Did he know that it was Daniel who had put the pepper on his food? I can't remember...

reply

No. He only knows that Daniel saved him.

reply

Daniel said "Sorry about the pepper". Combination confession and apology.

reply

Oh yeah. Geeze, I wonder if they decided to take a break between the resturamt scene and the ending until the custody arrangement could be settled.

reply

IMO he was a good guy, he was good to Miranda and her kids and didn't seem to harbor any ill feelings towards Daniel after he put peppers in his food.

reply

You know what about that ?

reply

that's what I remember seeing in the movie

reply

Ok you don’t listen

More of a thick soup than a name..

Was he a good guy?

The writers put in a scene to answer that question. When Stu's co-worker was talking to Stu about taking on a woman with kids, Stu said the right things. If Stu was meant to be a dick, he would have been written to say something like he just was trying to score with Miranda and would never settle for a woman with children.

We don't like him because we see him as a roadblock between Daniel and Miranda, but none of what happened to Daniel was Stu's fault. Stu didn't break up the marriage, Daniel did.

reply

He mostly was, he had his faults yes, but in the end he was. He cared 100% for Miranda as he took the time to ask about her and how she was on their first meeting, he was respectful to her and didn't invade her space. He then took his time to be cool to the kids and he started to like them.

His 2 main faults was he was a little arrogant and was awful about Daniel, but he didn't know how good of a dad he was. He was just going by her own created rep.. granted Daniel coulda killed him but he was real decent for saving him. I think once the hurt went away he would grow to respect Daniel and help him with the kids.

Stu was more for Miranda than Danny Boy was, he was her same type and had her same brain. Her and Daniel were 2 different types.

reply

He was alright, but he didn't have the same chemistry as Daniel and Miranda

reply

Overall he was 'alright'. No guy is gonna be %100 with the new guy with you ex, especially if you didn't want to break it off in the first place AND they are potentially seeing your kids more than you are.

The feelings were mutual - Stu called Daniel a loser behind his back and just came off as that arrogant, not likeable kinda guy, but he wasn't 'bad'. He was alright toward Miranda, the kids and even Mrs. Doubtfire.
