Mr Nanny vs Home Alone
Ok, so I downloaded this movie, and I'm quite happy to say the electrocution in the shower is there in its entirety. Why does this relieve me? Irrespective of continuity, I find it pathetic that it would be edited out of any version of the film given what else is out there.
Electoruction is a serious thing, but so is having a bowling ball dropped onto your face, and a showerhead cap shot into your face at high pressure like a bullet.
Think if you will of Home Alone. What was that, a PG rating? What's Mr Nanny, also a PG?
Home Alone has HEADS ON FIRE, TOOLBOXES DROPPING ONTO HEADS, ELECTROCUTION, NAILS THROUGH FEET, SEVERE BURNS.
Mr Nanny has impact booby traps like the iron on the head Home Alone has, in the form of the bowling ball on the head. But why is it that the electrocution in Home Alone is left in, and Mr Nanny's is edited in some pussified versions? Is it because of the blue lights?
If anything, I'd say the Home Alone one is worse, because it goes on for longer, and the guy turns into a SKELETON during the shock, whereas the worst thing that happens to Hulk is you see blue lights and his hair goes up.
And yet, they keep in the scene where a seriously strong German maniac type guy punches a guy in the face so hard he breaks his jaw.
It's pathetic.
I think the definition for "violence" needs to be looked at.. at least in the context of family movies..
It's funny how kids are more troublemakers these days despite having stuff like this edited out of movies. I know this film is 15 years old now (showing my age a little there :D) but I think today's kids can deal with it.
Am I talking out of my rear end, or does anybody agree with me and understand why I'm frustrated about this?
Kung fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene...
