How did they do the beam-walking scenes?

The closeups showing only the upper body or the legs are easy to explain, but there are some wideshots (seemingly?) with Richard Gere standing and walking on the rooftop.

Back then CGI wasn't sophisticated enough and we cannot spot any wirework. So it must be a stunt performer looking exactly like Richard Gere, right? Who knows the name of this lookalike?

Of course, they didn't have such advanced CGI back then, but they did have very sophisticated matte technology. The wires in the flying scenes in Superman (1978) aren't visible either, are they? That's because they were matted over. If they were able to do it so well and in so many scenes in a 1978 film, it figures it would have been even easier to do for just two scenes in 1993.

I'm here, Mr. Man, I cannot tell no lie and I'll be right here till the day I die
