Honestly, didn't it seem like the girl's mom was the one doing all the fighting? She also seemed to be the only one who even got angry! In one scene she flips out and screams that she wishes the father would just pound the crap out of the stalker, and he responds in that infuriatingly calm manner that some husbands have that then he would be the one who goes to jail and would no longer be able to protect his family. Well, he sure hadn't been much protection so far. I'd call him a weenie except he didn't seem to have one.

I agree with you! I obviously can't speak for all men/fathers out there, but if this were to happen to me, my dad would be on this guy like white on rice. Good point to bring up - - didn't really notice this until you pointed it out, but very true.

Who knows how accurate this movie is, but early on I began to feel the father had no common sense at all.

Actually, I thought the father WAS just as concerned as the mother was, but, was trying keep himself under control, precisely for the reason he said that he was: Because he did not want to be the one ending up in jail over this situation, while the real perpetrator was harassing his daughter & wife.

Times were different back then. Today he’d be viewed as a child pedophile as soon as his obsession started when she was 11. I also think due to his mental struggles he may not have even been hired to umpire a girls softball team. The parents say early on they knew he was slow
