Don't you think it's just as odd that beaten women stay with their husbands?
That's one of the big points this film was making. These people stay out of love.... and it's killing them.

I'd disagree with that in some part, Nena.
I've been in a relationship which, while not violent, I did find quite abusive toward me. I didn't have to remain with her and there was absolutely nothing I depended upon her for (which is why I was able to end it)... but for eight months I "accepted her the way she was".
In the beginning it was love and this is how such relationships usually start. Later on, one person changes but the other is still in love with who that person used to be and think that person still is.
