Release of Men Don't Tell on D.V.D.

Why in this more educated and informed time is it that there are times when men are not treated equally. As women themselves strive to be treated equally. In this vast colourful varied pool of humanity are we saying that there is no woman able to or has the inclination to abuse a man. The above film should be released to underline the freedom of expression and equal right to bring to light any wrong doing! Surely this is an important part of what equal means, the right to be heard (the diversity and free will of people will encourage differences of interpretation and opinion!). I am not entirely certain of the circumstances surrounding the film's non-release but if it is just because the abuse of a man is unbelievable then this is absurd.

I completely agree. This movie was really ahead of its time. Peter Strauss should have won the golden globe for this role. He was absolutely spot on and didn't portray Ed as the stereotypical victim people would expect. Judith Light was amazing too. She managed to be terrifyingly vicious one minute and then completely fall apart and make you almost feel sorry for her after she attacked Ed.

The film made it's point in a very empathetic way. You felt the dilemma faced by the main character in a real sense as if you were a fly on the wall. This is mainly due to what appears to be Peter Strauss' excellent ability to understand the impact of adverse situations on human beings. The whole cast combined to make a relevant film for both when it was made and now. Peter Strauss and those involved in making this film were not ahead of their time, they were just brave enough to take on the controversy and try to support those struggling to make sense of their situation in this type of circumstance as society refused to admit the existence of this dilemma for men.
