I remember seeing it during the initial broadcast way back. There are a lot of skanks hanging around bases trying to catch a young serviceman with government benefits. I have seen plenty of instances of guys marrying girls within days of meeting them. And almost all of them were similiar to this, except not as many homicides. pretty close to homicide, though. Do you recall the warning the cadets were given in "An Officer And A Gentleman"? For proof, just go down to the commissary on your nearest military installation one Saturday morning. You will scratch your head and thinh "WTF?" We had a few sayings back in the day: "Set beer goggles to stun." and "It ain't over until the fat lady goes home with the drunk Marine." After the local affiliate broadcast the show, the news had "You've seen the movie, meet the real character" type of segment. I think she only got a few years for conspiracy. Calling the real wife trailer trash would have been a compliment to her.

Ironic that she should be such trailer trash, and that Jason London who played Chris actually DID grow up in a trailer park (along with his brother Jeremy) and they turned out the TOTAL OPPOSITE of "trailer trash". Just remarkably talented as actors, and really decent human beings.
